Snapchat is making a couple of changes today to the app that are targeted towards making it a more engaging platform.

The app is officially getting group video chats and tagging or mentions in stories. Snapchat recently started testing mention tagging in Stories, a feature which has been available on Instagram since November 2016.

Once tagged, viewers will get a new swipe up option on the Story which brings up the tagged person's name, handle, Bitmoji, and an Add button. The feature is inteded to help users call out their friends or promote their favorite influencers.

The feature works almost exactly like tagging on Instagram, allowing users to add text with "@[username]" to mention a particular user in their story.  Just like Instagram, the tagged user is notified when they're mentioned in someone' story.

As for group video chats, you can bring up to 15 friends (plus you) together for a video chat, while up to 32 people can join a group voice chat. Voice and video calling arrived on Snapchat back in 2016, and the company seems bullish on this functionality to double down in this way.

We have been hearing about the Intel-AMD chipset and were even given a glimpse of some of its capabilities when it was mistakenly listed last week. And now Intel and AMD have officially announced the much-anticipated joint chipset at CES 2018.

The top end of the line-up is the Core i7-8809G CPU with a Radeon RX Vega Graphics chip and Intel is billing them as 'Intel 8^th Generation Core with Radeon RX Vega M Graphics' in marketing material.

According to the press release from Intel, the processors are based on Kaby Lake architecture and will come in two distinct configurations.

The report may not include any new renders (the phones look the same) but we now know its entire specs sheet and ho w it compares to the Pixel 5.

Pixel 5 will feature a recycled aluminum housing whereas the Pixel 4a 5G will boast a polycarbonate unibody build. It will also be heavier (168g vs 151g) and bigger in size than the flagship.

The highlight of the Pixel phones is, however, the camera and Google has decided to offer the same dual-camera setup aboard both of its 5G phones. Pixel 4a 5G will sport a 12.2MP primary camera and a 16MP ultra-wide camera on the rear – the same as the Pixel 5. You will also find an 8MP selfie sensor in the punch-hole cut-out at the top left.

Apple is all set to launch its first Macs powered by its in-house processors, but the company is apparently having trouble convincing major app makers to support its new platform. That’s according to a new report from 9to5Mac, which claims that companies like Facebook, Google and Candy Crush developer, King, will not be available on Apple Silicon Macs at launch.

As per the report, Facebook is one of the major companies to have refused to make its iOS apps available on iMacs powered by Apple Silicon. That being the case, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger will not get native support on the new platform, while Google will also not release Gmail, Google Maps and Google Drive apps on the new device. Likewise, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ and Snapchat will also miss native support at launch.

It is worth noting that all iOS and iPadOS apps will, in theory, be compatible with the upcoming iMacs. The App Store will reportedly designate such apps with a message reading: “Designed for iPad. Not verified for macOS”. If an app is not compatible with Apple Silicon Macs, the App Store will show a message telling the user to download in on their iPhone or iPad instead. Of course, all developers can choose to republish their apps with Mac support at any time, which means the lack of native Facebook and Google apps on the platform could be temporary.
